This article deals with a recently concluded agreement on culture between India and china

  • It is a first of its kind agreement which allows both countries access to museum space in each others country
  • This is a radical departure from the conventional agreement which allow traveling exhibitions or loaning of cultural objects for a fixed period of time
  • Secure space will encourage countries to bring in more precious artefacts into the host countries
  • Also this will help curb trafficking in antiquities which is the 3rd most pervasive criminal activity in world
  • India has been struggling to maintain its substandard museums
  • India can replicate the Italy-China  agreement
  • Countries with advanced museum experience can  be invited to build their own space and showcase precious heritage
