as you are a science background, you can select psychology as best subject.

the optionals which u’ve chosed now is very rare subjects. & only few very little aspirants chose these kind of subject..

i will suggest u to take psychology .

another subject is public administration..

if ur interested in history u can take…that’s ur wish…

but as per my experience, psychology & p.a. are the good subjects & more scoring , easy to understand, less syllabus, easily available material, question papers, text books, que., banks…

after 2006 year, the more number of toppers as opted for psychology & p.a.

these 2 subjects r in upsc scoring list were p.a. stands 2 place & psychology in 3rd.

ist is sociology….

if u r finishing ur graduation in the year 2012, then from now onwards if u start u can cover the basics part of the opitonal & make sure that u cleared all ur doubts. & then go for indepth study…

u can follow this timings if ur comfortable..

from now onwards means … from jan 1 2011 onwards :

strating 4 months for ur 1st optional

from may – august = ur 2nd optional

september – dec 2011.= ur csat paper only, means start reading & practing problems these 4 months..

paper 1 the normal gs which consists of all subejcts, jan 1 – may 31 2012 = normal gs paper means paper 1…finish it off.

simply the best way to follow these timings/time table…if u r not comfortable by this u can change it by ur self as per ur convienence.

i had given u 2 optional subjects, if ur interested only u chose it otherwise shift to some other subjects in which u r interest.

& im telling u this that dont chose the subject what others have suggested u.

& dont think that its a force or something else, bcoz u r the one who write the xms, so u should chose the subejcts as per ur wish, ur interest may goes on some other subject we dont know…

the subjects which u chose should be of :

- comfortable for u

- interest

- not by force

- less syllabus…means…u should be able to complete the whole syllabus within time limit otherwise u lack behind… here time limit means… for opitonals u have to complete within 3 months exactly…not more than that….for each & every subject it depends….

if u chose history u cant complete within 3 months it take more than that…

- papers, materials , banks every should be available for ur particular optionals..

- others have opted that particular subject, so u ve opted or u should opt for it, dont do these…..

but i’ve suggested u as per my experience…

aap 2012may xm de rahiro, tho, aapke paass bahooth zyada time hi ki, aap dhono yane prelims & mains complete & detailed study kar sakthe ho..
aap monday-friday = 8.30 – 11.00 thak padne keliye time adjust karlo…

as per ur timings im giving u the study timings…

saturday – sunday = atleast 7 hours aap pade tho , aapne 1st attempt se me clear kar sakthe ho…

prelims ke liye aap compulsory 5 hours rakni chaahiye.
mains ke liye 8 hours compulsory rakni chaahiye…

ye baath zaroor dhyan me rakna…
